Exploring the Great Smoky Mountains

Updated: Apr 28

Do you have a bucket list? Ace and I both have visiting all the national parks on ours. We couldn't be within 15 minutes of an entrance and not go to the Smokies. Encompassing over 800 square miles, there is no way we could do this national park justice with one 10 minute video. We decided to share one of the visitor centers.

While in Cherokee NC for a work event, Ace and I were close to the Oconoluftee Visitor Center. The Oconoluftee River basin was once a historical Cherokee Indian Village and later became an Appalachian Community. At the visitor center, you can find all sorts of maps, history about the park, and information on the river basin. One of the things Ace and I enjoyed was the Mountain Farm Museum that you can walk through. The museum allows you to walk through preserved structures that give you a glimpse of what life was like in the Appalachian Mountains in the last century.

Ace and I would have liked to spend more time in the area, but because of our location and timing, many driving routes and activities closed for the winter. We will be back for the spring. Keep Soarin 2DN.
