Exploring Asheville NC by....Trolley?

Have you ever looked at the pamphlets in the lobby of the hotel you're staying at?

Ace and I had a couple of days of free time before we started to head towards our next poker dealing gig. We had heard some fun things about Asheville from fellow dealers and it was only about an hour away from where we were staying at the time in North Carolina. Ace and I didn't really have anything planned, but decided to go. After checking into our hotel in Asheville, I was perusing all of the brochures that most hotel lobbies have and found a gem.

Hop-on board one of Gray Line’s nostalgic trolleys for a fully narrated day tour, highlighting the history, homes, hang-outs and hot spots of this “city of surprises.”

; The trolley tours have 10 stops that they make around Asheville. Because of the time of year we visited, the trolleys only run pick-up/drop-offs every hour, but every half-hour from April-November. The drivers are super friendly, funny and knowledgeable about Asheville. Ace and I learned quite a few facts as we were shuttled from location to location.

5 Tips to make your trolley tour a success!

  1. To park your car for free, go to the Asheville Visitors Center and purchase your tickets.

  2. Don't try to visit every stop the first time. Your tickets are actually good for 2 days.

  3. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water

  4. Bring an appetite! There are numerous places to eat and snack at almost every stop.

  5. Unless you're specifically wanting to shop, skip the Biltmore Village stop.
